London Borough of Barking and Dagenham opts for single, remotely managed Dynamic Enterprise network from Alcatel-Lucent
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham has implemented an entirely new enterprise network infrastructure from Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise.The new deployment, which includes the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise Communication Server (OXE) and Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista Network Management System, provides complete IP telephony capabilities and enables the Borough of Barking and Dagenham to work smarter.
As a result of the implementation, the Borough has been able to unify 13 previously disparate PBX systems – improving communication costs, boosting management and maintenance efficiency and eliminating duplication errors. The addition of full IP telephony capabilities – including IP Desktop Softphones, IP Handsets and the Alcatel-Lucent 8400 Voicemail system – provides employees with a single, fully integrated system that delivers maximum working flexibility. Now, no employee is tied to a single desk – their extension number reaches them wherever they are. This maximises the use of office space – in line with the spending review – and encourages practices such as home working.

Not only is management of the system easier and more efficient – it significantly reduces cost and increases the quality of service that we can provide to residents of the Borough and employees.
