Carelink achieves HSCN Stage 2 compliance and commences migration of existing customers to the new network.
Carelink, the UK healthcare managed infrastructure and network services business of Piksel Ltd, has announced that it has successfully achieved Health and Social Care Network (HSCN) Stage 2 compliance as a Consumer Network Services Provider (CNSP). The company will now commence migrating existing customers to the new network.
Achieving Stage 2 compliance, a process that involved a full assessment of technical, security and service management capabilities by NHS Digital, enables Carelink to deliver its network and infrastructure services to UK healthcare providers. Carelink achieved HSCN Stage 1 compliance in August 2017 and joined the Crown Commercial Services Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) framework for HSCN services, RM3825, in November 2017.
HSCN provides a reliable, efficient and flexible way for health and social care organisations to access and exchange electronic information and take advantage of innovative technologies. Carelink’s ITIL aligned managed services are ISO20000, ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 accredited, ensuring the high levels of quality, security and availability.
Darren Turner, general manager at Carelink, says, “We’ve been eagerly awaiting confirmation of HSCN Stage 2 compliance – as have many of our existing customers and new business prospects – since we achieved Stage 1 compliance at the beginning of August last year.
“With a history of providing services into the healthcare sector spanning 20 years from the early days of NHSnet, N2 and then N3, we were keen to be at the forefront of the migration to HSCN.
“And, we’re delighted to now be in a position to offer our HSCN Stage 2 compliant connectivity services to the health and social care sector. As well as migrating and improving the connectivity delivered to our existing customers, we can now begin to tender for and fulfill new contracts with immediate effect.”
Michael Bowyer, industry lead for the creation of the Obligations Framework for HSCN and Chairman of Innopsis, comments: “HSCN will deliver the first truly large scale disaggregated supply and service model for the public sector, enabling all infrastructure and network services suppliers, regardless of size, to compete for health and social care business.
“Last year we saw a number of suppliers achieve Stage 1 compliance, and a place on the HSCN DPS Access Framework, RM3825. We’re now seeing the first of those suppliers go on to achieve Stage 2 compliance, enabling them to win business and actually stand up their services.
“Suppliers that are achieving stage 2 compliance are demonstrating their commitment to invest in this exciting opportunity. As suppliers achieve stage 2 compliance they will innovate and create competitive and compelling solutions for the end user. This will drive down cost, provide functionality previously not available to a user that has many demanding objectives and, finally, create new investment in a vital part of the UK digital economy. I am particularly pleased to see that Carelink has chosen to make those investments and I look forward to reading about their success in the near future.”
