Energy efficiency is rapidly rising up the priority list for data centre operators as energy prices continue to rise and energy supplies become more unreliable. The new Eaton 93PM units, in power ratings from 30 to 200kW, are designed with these needs in mind. Using Eaton technologies including Energy Saver System (ESS) and HotSync, Eaton UPSs adjust to power conditions and demand to maintain the best possible level of efficiency in any situation.
The flexibility of the new 93PM UPSs is a result of the units’ modular design. This makes it simple and cost effective to scale the system as load demands change without increasing the footprint, enabling users to reduce capital expenditure and adopt a ‘pay-as-you-grow’ approach. The inclusion of Eaton’s patented Hot Sync wireless paralleling technology also means a system can be designed, or is scalable, up to a power rating of 800kW, maximising availability without compromising resilience and reliability.
The new UPSs offer the lowest possible total cost of ownership by enabling users to take full advantage of the operational efficiency provided by Energy Saver System (ESS) mode. ESS automatically and continuously matches the operation of the UPS to the incoming power quality allowing an efficiency of 99 per cent to be achieved.
When required, ESS transitions the UPS seamlessly to double conversion mode in less than two milliseconds and delivers an unmatched efficiency of up to 97 per cent whilst at the same time removing any abnormalities in the utility power. The new 93PM UPSs also have a power factor of 1.0 and so enable users to further improve their Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
