Hermes’ The Pearl Is The First In Newcastle To Become Wired Certified

The Pearl Wired Certification

The Pearl in Newcastle is the first building in the city to be Wired Certified under the international digital connectivity rating scheme from WiredScore.

The landmark building, which is comprised of over 30,000 sq ft of office space has achieved a Wired Certified Silver rating for its technology infrastructure. This reflects the considerable investment the company has made in its digital infrastructure.

What is Wired Certification?

Wired Certification is a trusted benchmark for commercial property connectivity, that independently certifies buildings’ digital infrastructure. This provides greater transparency for occupiers and helps them make an informed decision before signing a lease. From a landlords point of view, this provides them with the necessary insights to improve their buildings’ connectivity standards.

Stephen Bradley, asset manager at Hermes Investment Management, says:

The Pearl boasts first-class office space and it is therefore fitting that we’ve received a world-class connectivity rating. The Wired Certification brings additional value to the building and is in line with growing trends of urbanisation and technology. We are confident it will act as an additional draw for prospective occupiers.

The Pearl’s connectivity boasts an impressive selection to choose from, including a variety of broadband suppliers, allowing tenants to choose and negotiate the service that suits their connectivity needs. To speed up the process of broadband installation when tenants move in, Hermes also has all the necessary wayleave agreements on file. The future-proof infrastructure of The Pearl means the building also has the capacity to accommodate more cabling installations to support the future needs of tenants.

William Newton, president and EMEA director at WiredScore, adds: “Hermes has made a great investment in the digital infrastructure of The Pearl to ensure that it is a beacon of connectivity in the North East. Not only has it ensured that its existing tenants have quick access to good broadband services, but in providing space for new cabling and equipment, the building is also able to continually evolve its connectivity infrastructure to meet the future demands of tenants.”
