Businesses suffering from increased network performance issues

Of the 650 IT decision makers surveyed, 84 per cent also reported that their organisation’s bandwidth requirements are growing by at least 10 per cent each year, which has required greater investment in the network.

Trevor Dearing, EMEA marketing director for Gigamon, commented, ‘Today’s networks are under a lot of pressure and it’s therefore not a surprise that organisations are suffering from performance issues. This survey clearly demonstrates that traffic is increasing at an unprecedented rate and placing huge strain on the network. As organisations begin transforming their IT infrastructure by implementing new solutions, such as cloud computing, the situation is only going to get worse. To tackle this problem, many organisations spend vast amounts of money on increasing their network speeds, but this is often unnecessary.

‘By implementing tools that enhance visibility into the network, businesses can greatly improve the performance of their networks. Traffic visibility tools boost availability and reliability by increasing insight into traffic flows – essentially bridging the gap between the infrastructure and the tools working on the network. Furthermore, the use of flow mapping technologies, which intelligently filter traffic, ensures that all network tools only see the information they are best equipped to deal with, making every one as efficient as possible and increasing network reliability.’
