Data centre launch event receives backing from university, Level 3 Communications & Brocade

A new state-of-the-art data centre in Welwyn Garden City opens on 22nd November, with a launch event backed by big names in the tech industry and the University of Hertfordshire.

This full day launch event will feature seminars from industry experts such as Dell and Brocade on subjects including cloud computing and IPv6, and gets major institutional backing from University of Hertfordshire, who are giving a talk on data centre efficiency and best practice.

The data centre is a joint venture by UK based managed hosting specialists ServerChoice, and Exemplas, a company owned by University of Hertfordshire group (with assets of over £5bn) and were named one of the UK’s 100 most visionary organisations. Adam Wood, director of Projects at Exemplas, said, ‘We’re delighted to have key industry players working with us to help launch our latest UK data centre. Those who have already registered for the event have expressed a lot of interest in the seminars – there’s a real buzz in the air around what these industry heavyweights have to say about the future of the IT sector.’

The new ‘SC-2’ data centre focuses on the three core issues of security, reliability and performance, and complements ServerChoice’s existing multi-million pound data centre, also along the A1 corridor in Hertfordshire. Mark Boost, managing director of ServerChoice, said, ‘As with our existing data centre, it’s really been no expense spared with this new facility, too. Everything has been built to Tier 4 standards so we can offer the maximum possible uptime for our customers.’

In addition to speaking, Brocade is sponsoring the event. Level 3 Communications is also a sponsor.

The enterprise class infrastructure at the facility will enable Exemplas and ServerChoice to offer a highly secure and resilient colocation environment for SMEs and larger corporations. In addition, ServerChoice will provide managed hosting and private cloud services for businesses looking to lower their hosting infrastructure overheads and benefit from more flexible and robust solutions.

Those who are interested attending the data centre launch event can reserve their slot by registering at www.ServerChoice.com/launch, or calling ServerChoice on 01438 342 475.
