Draka launches UC Connect System Approved Installer Programme

Draka launches UC Connect System Approved Installer Programme

Draka has launched an Approved Installer Programme for data network cabling installers. Called Draka Universal Cabling Connect (UC Connect), the programme has been developed to give installers a commercial edge by enabling them to take full advantage of the UC Connect System’s numerous benefits and innovations to save them both time and cost on network installations.

The scheme will help create a network of Approved Installers with a high level of technical competence able to work with clients to develop and deliver the best possible design solutions installed to the highest possible standard.

Approved Installers will be made aware of all the latest developments in Draka’s UC Connect range of cabling technologies, which will ensure that they provide customers with high quality and cost effective communication cabling solution possible. Many cabling installers already have high levels of technical competence and experience, but even these installers need to keep up to date with the latest innovations and technical developments. As products continue to evolve, the Approved Installer Programme will ensure installers are familiar with all Draka’s latest technological and product innovations and understand their potential applications to help keep them ahead of their competitors.

Recent cabling innovations in the UC Connect system include: UC400 Category 6 U/UTP HD, UC500 Category 6a U/FTP, UC Fibre incorporating Bendbright bend insensitive fibre, and UC Future Datacentre solutions. The Approved Installer scheme will ensure participants understand the benefits of these products and how they can save installers both time and money in delivering customers a future proofed solution.

Other innovations include the introduction of High Density Category 6 UC400 LSHF and the Draka patented Category 6a UC500 LSHF Twin S-foil range of cables for applications where space is at a premium. With Reelex box packaging available as standard for both products, installation time is significantly reduced and the need for A-frames to hold wooden reels of 500m cable lengths is eliminated. All of these products are produced in Draka’s state-of-the-art European production facilities.

In addition to cutting-edge product developments, the Approved Installer Programme will also ensure participants are familiar with the latest network cabling standards. Tender documents, project specifications and detailed plans increasingly make reference to the latest standards and terminology so the Approved Installer Programme will provide installers with a thorough understanding of new and developing standards to reduce the potential for costly design and installation errors.

Other key benefits of the Draka Approved Installer Programme include:

– Access to the diverse product portfolio from the Prysmian Group including Sirocco

Blown Fibre to enable it to provide complete end-to-end solutions for enterprise, data centre and industrial applications (additional training may be required)

– Use of third party approved components and systems

– A 25 year UC Connect Warranty on all systems completed by Approved Installers

The programme will also give customers confidence in an installer’s ability to deliver a professional installation of the UC Connect System. And because a successful candidate will receive an Approved Installer Certificate, issued in that individual’s name, customers will have the peace of mind knowing their installer can provide a best practice installation.

The kudos in achieving Approved Installer status will also give participants the confidence to interface with customers and consultants on a technical basis.

Developed by Draka, the Approved Installer Programme will be delivered by CNET Training, a specialist communications industry training provider accredited by IET, City & Guilds and BICSI.

There are two training options: a classroom based fibre optic/copper cabling course, held at CNET’s Bury St Edmunds training centre over two days. This will cost £550 +VAT.

Or, for experienced installers, there is an online option where the course will be provided electronically where participants will be required to pass this E-book examination on the first attempt. The cost for this course is £150+VAT per person.

Draka is also offering to cover the cost of training for up to two participants, once a contractor has installed over £15,000 of Draka UC Connect products purchased from a nominated official Draka distributor. And, to make it even easier for installers to achieve Draka Approved Installer status, Draka can even arrange to run the course at a venue local to you (additional costs maybe incurred).
