Charity bike ride launches Great British Data Centre Event

Scott Fletcher – named Entrepreneur of the Year for the North West at the National Business Awards – undertook a gruelling, three day bike ride from Manchester to London to raise funds for Sport Relief and launch the Great British Data Centre Event at Cisco House, Olympic Park, London yesterday.

The Great British Data Event was hosted by UK cloud infrastructure specialists ANS Group to demonstrate to both private and public clients how they can increase their computing power and save money by migrating their network to the cloud.

‘Over the course of the day we demonstrated how our FlexPod combination of Cisco, NetApp and VMware technology can cut the costs and optimise the performance of any network to ensure that the customer gleans every possible advantage from their IT spend,’ said Scott Fletcher – who is the founder and chairman of ANS Group.

Computer networks have evolved over the years from separate dedicated components to a unified intelligent infrastructure. Initially every component was separate, the server network, the storage network, the core network, the telephony network and the wireless network. Expansion of these networks was both costly and time consuming, servers and storage grew in a linear manner with very little utilisation.

The Great British Data Event was held in the impressive Cisco House which overlooks the Olympic Stadium.

‘In business, as in sport, you have to optimise every aspect of your performance in order to compete,’ added Fletcher.

The event was a great success and speakers from ANS Group’s partners – including Phil Smith (UK and Ireland CEO of Cisco) and David Allen (UK and Ireland MD of NetApp) addressed hundreds of potential new clients.

ANS Group has achieved a unique level of partner accreditation with Cisco, NetApp and VMware in Europe and as such is perfectly positioned to provide the myriad benefits that a FlexPod data centre can deliver.
