Daisy Group gives Cancer Research UK free business broadband for a year

Daisy Group has completed a business broadband project for the UK’s largest cancer charity, Cancer Research UK.

Through Daisy’s new ‘free broadband for a year’ proposition, wireless Internet has been installed across most of the charity’s 600 retail stores located throughout the UK.

Using the ‘free broadband for a year’ deal, Daisy has provided Cancer Research UK with an Internet network of 537 broadband connections spread throughout its charity shops, estimated to save them  £120,000 in its first contract year and over £30,000 the year after.

In addition to the broadband access installed by Daisy, the telecommunications group was assigned to work in partnership with retail systems provider Cybertill to meet the tight deadline which had been agreed to implement a new Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) system into the charity’s stores.

Daisy’s ‘free broadband for a year’ offering allows businesses to not only benefit from a year of free broadband, but also free transfer from their existing broadband provider and no additional connection charges.

Gareth Kirkwood, chief operating officer at Daisy Group, said, ‘We are delighted to have been able to work with Cancer Research UK and provide them with a solution that both meets the business needs of the charity and allows them to focus attention and funds back onto the crucial work they carry out on a day-to-day basis.’

Paul Feldman, IS director at Cancer Research UK, said, ‘We were really pleased with the free broadband for a year offer. It has allowed us to make significant savings, meaning we have more money available to fund our lifesaving work to beat cancer. Daisy’s focus during the roll-out has been great and they have been a key part of our team.’
