2bm become awarded suppliers for data centre solutions to higher education market

The North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium (NEUPC), one of several UK Higher Education Purchasing Consortia, has chosen 2bm as one of the awarded suppliers for data centre solutions to the higher education market via the national agreement for the supply, installation and maintenance of Data Centre Management Equipment Including Consultancy.

The NEUPC operates as a centralised structure of 23 members providing collaborative procurement support, guidance, systems and processes and agreements that are aligned to, and actively support its members’ needs, values and objectives. NEUPC’s accreditation of 2bm is for the supply, installation and maintenance of data centre management equipment including consultancy.

Jerry Skinner, contracts manager at 2bm, said, ‘We are delighted to have been awarded by the NEUPC as a supplier of data centre solutions to the higher education market. We are fully committed to working closely with universities to help them implement innovative, energy efficient and reliable data centres, assisting with all aspects of the design and build process, whilst also providing ongoing consultancy, support and project management. Our accreditation by the NEUPC will further solidify our reputation in the education sector for providing first class data centre solutions.’

2bm already has an extensive portfolio of successful data centre implementations within  the higher education market including Birkbeck University of London, The University of Nottingham and the University of Hertfordshire.  2bm successfully implemented a high efficiency tier 2/3 data centre for Birkbeck University of London in which a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) rating of 1.3 was achieved, exceeding the industry standard of 2.5.

Similarly at the University of Nottingham, 2bm installed its innovative iMeter Management Software (iMS) – an extremely powerful data collection, analytical and reporting software suite that enables IT and Facilities personnel to manage data centre power usage more efficiently which aims to dramatically lower PUE ratings.
