Third IPiN project underway at Prince Charles Hospital
The Wandsworth Group is now part way through the third project in the phased introduction of the company’s Ethernet based IPiN nursecall system at Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.Wandsworth has been contracted to design, supply, install, and commission the innovative IPiN system across the hospital’s emergency department, day surgery unit and 12 wards. The three departments are housed in separate buildings on the same campus and the emergency department and day surgery unit projects have now successfully been completed. Wandsworth is also undertaking installation in the wards on a phased basis, which is halfway through the planned five year period in response to fire precautions and asbestos issues which are being addressed as part of a wider ward refurbishment programme.
Wandsworth is installing the IPiN nursecall system along with the company’s vertical bedhead trunking, which will accommodate additional controls for any further systems that the hospital decides to install in the future. The IPiN system is being integrated with a fixed button panic attack system at the time of installation, which will enable patients or staff to call for emergency assistance.
The IPiN nursecall system for the emergency department and day surgery unit has already been networked together and each phase of the ward installation will be networked too as it is completed. This will allow the hospital team to manage the nursecall system and log data on the hospital network in addition to using the IPiN system’s facility for the remote access option via a secure log in.
