TE Connectivity granted Endorser status under European Code of Conduct for Data Centres

TE Connectivity Enterprise Networks has been granted Endorser status under the European Code of Conduct for Data Centres.

This Code is one of the European Codes of Conduct for ICT: a European action to improve the energy efficiency of information and communication technologies. It sets out to improve efficiency and promote best practices within data centres.

The Code of Conduct is targeted at both Participants (owners and users of data centres) and Endorsers (organisations involved with designing, building and supplying equipment to data centres). TE’s Endorser status has been granted by the European Commission’s Directorate-General JRC (Joint Research Centre), Institute for Energy, Renewable Energy Unit.

As an Endorser of the Code of Conduct, TE is expected by the Commission to promote and disseminate information regarding the Code and to support its Participants in putting the guidelines and recommendations into practice.

Commenting on the granting of Endorser Status, Luca Rozzoni, programme manager with TE Connectivity Enterprise Networks, said, ‘We are delighted to have been granted Endorser status under the Code. As a major supplier of infrastructure cabling solutions to data centres, we have been at the forefront of developing and promoting energy saving technologies, and this is a significant recognition of our progress in this increasingly important sector.’

The code is voluntary but is viewed by many as the forerunner to more stringent data centre legislation in the future.
