2bm announces new roadshows on power and environmental monitoring in the data centre

2bm has announced new roadshows in Birmingham and Manchester that will focus on Power and Environmental Monitoring in the data centre, as organisations increasingly come under pressure to reduce energy consumption.

The next roadshows will be held in Birmingham (Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Edgbaston) on 12th July and Manchester (Manchester United Football Club, Old Trafford) on 14th July. Attendees will learn how to achieve intelligent, reliable and accurate server power monitoring and gain a much tighter control of energy usage in the data centre.

The reduction of excessive power consumption from organisations is now a major government initiative and the potential significant levy for failure to comply with the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme requirements is increasingly a cause for concern for any large enterprise and its subsidiaries. It is now imperative for businesses to intelligently monitor power usage throughout the organisation and it is those highest areas of usage, such as the data centre, that must be a priority.

Mark King, director at 2bm commented, ‘We have put together a roadshow programme that will help organisations across the UK consider what they need to be doing to reduce their energy consumption to avoid significant fines when the government legislation is introduced. We will also be able to advise companies on solutions which can be implemented such as the 2bm iMeter, which can provide an intelligent, accurate method of monitoring power consumption without requiring any system downtime.’

The highly innovative technology within the 2bm iMeter means it can be used at rack level, providing unprecedented insight into the energy requirements of servers, storage area networks and switches, as well as the attendant supporting equipment, such as lighting and air conditioning, that will enable the controlled reduction of a data centre’s Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) rating.

King concluded, ‘At 2bm we are always committed to providing our clients with the best advice, design and solutions to aid in improved data centre management. The Power and Environmental Monitoring roadshows are another example of going that extra step in the industry and helping organisations transform the way they are monitoring and consuming power.’
